Kent State Student Media is excited to have been recognized as the 2019 “Emerging University Partner” during LaunchNet’s annual Awards & Expo.

Last summer, Student Media began working with Zach Mikrut and LaunchNET to build the Student Media FlashLab idea. Jackson Guido, the Student Media liaison and a sophomore DMP major, introduced the idea that Student Media connect with LaunchNET. Then, becoming a partner in the effort, LaunchNET helped plan and execute the first FlashLab event and pitch contest.

LaunchNET has joined as a supporting partner for Anna Huntsman’s podcast “Kent-repreneur”, providing ideas, access and financial support. The podcast culminates with a live event April 29 that is sponsored by Student Media and LaunchNet and features four panelists finalized: J.R. Campbell, Anna Katsas, Dania Mofleh (she and three other international students created an app for immigrants called Togetherness) & Victory Searcy (created an ‘incubator restaurant’ in Cleveland called Sauce the City.)

LaunchNET Kent State is a co-curricular, cross-campus program that serves students, alumni, staff and faculty interested in entrepreneurship and innovation through advising, events, and connections to the greater Northeast Ohio community.
