LaunchNET Recognizes Kent State Student Media at 2019 Awards and Expo.

Kent State Student Media is excited to have been recognized as the 2019 “Emerging University Partner” during LaunchNet’s annual Awards & Expo.

Last summer, Student Media began working with Zach Mikrut and LaunchNET to build the Student Media FlashLab idea. Jackson Guido, the Student Media liaison and a sophomore DMP major, introduced the idea that Student Media connect with LaunchNET. Then, becoming a partner in the effort, LaunchNET helped plan and execute the first FlashLab event and pitch contest.

LaunchNET has joined as a supporting partner for Anna Huntsman’s podcast “Kent-repreneur”, providing ideas, access and financial support. The podcast culminates with a live event April 29 that is sponsored by Student Media and LaunchNet and features four panelists finalized: J.R. Campbell, Anna Katsas, Dania Mofleh (she and three other international students created an app for immigrants called Togetherness) & Victory Searcy (created an 'incubator restaurant' in Cleveland called Sauce the City.)

LaunchNET Kent State is a co-curricular, cross-campus program that serves students, alumni, staff and faculty interested in entrepreneurship and innovation through advising, events, and connections to the greater Northeast Ohio community.
